Synopsis
When the Japanese invaded China in 1931, the traitor Zhang Wenlin defected to the enemy and betrayed his country. Zheng Yi and other righteous men fought for the traitor in blood, but ended in failure, taking Zhang Lihua, Zhang Wenlin's daughter, with them. Party-approved action drama set during the final days of the Japanese occupation of China. Two sisters, one raised by a communist assassin trying to kill a Japanese general, the other raised by her quisling father working for the Japanese. The action was pretty decent, but I was constantly frustrated by how incompetent every character was once they had a gun in their hands. Empty handed, they fought like heroes, but once they picked up a gun you can count on one hand how many times someone actually hit what they were aiming at, and you'd need three hands to count the number of times a character had their target in their sights and didn't pull the trigger. This kind of thing is absolutely infuriating to me.
Anyway, not bad overall.
